All Wrapped Up

The wrap has been knit, blocked and worn. Last night DH took me out to dinner to celebrate my birthday. We went to one of my favorite leave-the-kids-at-home-with-a-babysitter restaurants called the Black Bass. When we walked in and went to our table I was surprised to see that DH had secretly arranged for three of my dearest friends (and their husbands) to be there. They were already at the table. I had so much fun! The food was great, the wine was delicious but nothing could top the company! I'm still smiling.

While we were eating dinner we heard several rounds of the Happy Birthday song. We must have heard it four times during our dinner. It was a popular night for birthday dinners. Fortunately, my friends were thoughtful enough to spare me that public spectacle. We went back to one of their houses for cake and after dinner drinks. And more laughter.

I'll post later about the cake and the gifts as they are all postworthy! Here are the pictures I promised of the finished wrap. I was disappointed at my outfit. It looked so much nicer on the (size 4) model in the catalog! I felt like a schlump until my dinner companions made me forget all about my self consciousness.

You look GREAT and your wrap is beautiful too. Remember---we're our own worst critics (about our knitting and about ourselves....)

I think your shawl is lovely and adding the beads made it extra special. Sounds like a pretty fabulous birthday!

Stopping in from AK to see your beaded wrap... it is gorgeous! What an intricate pattern! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I noticed you have a Philly KNitters webring. Are you from Philly? I grew up in KoP and haven't been back to Philly in over 10 years. I do miss the cheesesteaks, hoagies and pizza. Can't find anything remotely close to these up here in VT. ugh...

Anyway, I loved your blog, would you share your pattern for your daughter's heart sweater? It's gorgeous! My six year old would LOVE that!

Anyway, I very much enjoyed your blog... Judy from AK

Lou, it's beautiful and so are you!! What a wonderful birthday present to yourself. It sounds like a joyous evening.

Enjoy your 40s. In my experience of them so far (I'll be 43 in July), it's a decade of liberation.

Ohmigosh! Thank you all for your comments! I'm having a great birthday. I'm working on writing the instructions for the wrap and it when they're done I'll post them on my blog. I want to get a better picture too. The pictures I have don't show the beads at all. Stay tuned, I'll let you know when the instructions are ready.

A truly beautiful shawl. It looks stunning and you look stunning in it. Thank you for posting the pattern, I've added it to my to do list. Although as much as I love beads, that's an awful lot of beads :'}.
