T -4 days and counting

I've been busily working on my lace wrap. I have a deadline now. DH is taking me out to celebrate my 40th birthday on Saturday. I'm going to knit every possible second until Friday night. Then I'm going to gently wash the wrap (in the sink because my washer isn't working - boo hoo!) and stretch it out with my blocking wires. Saturday it will be all ready to go.

Since I don't like to post without pictures and I don't have any new pictures of the wrap in progress I'll leave you with these shots of the dress and pinafore I made for K for her first birthday. That was almost three years ago! It's hard for me to believe that it's been that long. It seems like just yesterday.

As always, click on the photo for a closer look at the details...

K's 1st birthday dress and pinafore - front

I can't find any pictures of K in her dress on my computer. I know I took some. I'll dig around some more and post them at another time. The yarn for the pinafore is a very fine cotton and silk I bought at Stitches from the Yarn Barn in 2000. I bought the yarn to make a baptism shawl for K. She was due in 6/01 and I expected to have her baptised within her first 6 weeks so I bought this lovely yarn that was so light and cool. The pinafore was made from the leftover shawl yarn. It seemed fitting that K should get two lace garments from "her" yarn.

what a beautiful and intricate pinafore for a little girl. You're good at lace.

That little dress is beautiful. I'm sure your daughter looked like an angel in it!

Have a great birthday! Mine is on Sunday.

Happy early birthday! I hope you find turning 40 as liberating as I did.

What a lovely pinafore and a great story to go with it!
