About a year ago I decided that I was going to gather up my courage and submit some of my knitting ideas for publication. I sent several submissions to each of several magazines. I cannot acurately describe the complex mix of feelings I've had about this. I was hopeful that something would be accepted. I was fearful that nothing would would be good enough. When I got the first call that one of my designs (not my first submission) was accepted for the Winter '07 issue of Interweave Knits I was so excited I don't think I spoke coherently! I was stuttering and sputtering through the whole conversation. Three sweaters I designed are currently out in knitting magazines. I get the same sense of thrill and excitement every time I find out that one has been accepted. While the rejections are still difficult to handle I'm trying not to take them personally (that's very hard to do.) But I'm hooked. I'm really enjoying this new phase in my knitting!

Congrats! I really love the one in IK.
Congrats to you!! I saw the red one last night in the new IK--it is beautiful! As soon as I saw your name I was excited to recognize someone I "know!"
Congratulations on your successes, and don't worry about those that didn't make it!
Just got my latest issue of IK on Friday and saw the sidelines sweater. I was like OMG, I've emailed with her! Congrats on everything that's been accepted. I know it must be absolutely thrilling!
Just saw your Sidelines in the new IK a few days ago. Congrats! It is a wonderful design and I will definitely be making one as soon as my yarn diet is over at the end of this month.
Lou, I know exactly what you're talking about. We debuted in the winter IK together and you're right, it's still very thrilling to get that acceptance. Rejections are hard and I do tend to take things personally, but I'm learning to not let it affect me so much. Much continued success on your design career :)
Congrats!! I just picked up "Interweave Knits" and I love the read sweater!! It is beautimuss, I have never knitted anything like that--I really want to knit that sweater...now I just have to find someone to help me! ;)
